16Verse 16. Then the officials and all the people told the priests and prophets, “This man is not worthy of death, for he has spoken to us in the name of the LORD our God!” 17Verse 17. Some of the elders of the land stood up and said to the whole assembly of the people, 18Verse 18. “Micah the Moreshite prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah and told all the people of Judah that this is what the LORD of Hosts says: ‘Zion will be plowed like a field, Jerusalem will become a heap of rubble, and the temple mount a wooded ridge.’ 19Verse 19. Did Hezekiah king of Judah or anyone else in Judah put him to death? Did Hezekiah not fear the LORD and seek His favor, and did not the LORD relent of the disaster He had pronounced against them? But we are about to bring great harm on ourselves!” 20Verse 20. Now there was another man prophesying in the name of the LORD, Uriah son of Shemaiah from Kiriath-jearim. He prophesied against this city and against this land the same things that Jeremiah did. 21Verse 21. King Jehoiakim and all his mighty men and officials heard his words, and the king sought to put him to death. But when Uriah found out about it, he fled in fear and went to Egypt. 22Verse 22. Then King Jehoiakim sent men to Egypt: Elnathan son of Achbor along with some other men. 23Verse 23. They brought Uriah out of Egypt and took him to King Jehoiakim, who had him put to the sword and his body thrown into the burial place of the common people. 24Verse 24. Nevertheless, Ahikam son of Shaphan supported Jeremiah, so he was not handed over to the people to be put to death.

43Verse 43. But Laban answered Jacob, “These daughters are my daughters, these sons are my sons, and these flocks are my flocks! Everything you see is mine! Yet what can I do today about these daughters of mine or the children they have borne? 44Verse 44. Come now, let us make a covenant, you and I, and let it serve as a witness between you and me.” 45Verse 45. So Jacob picked out a stone and set it up as a pillar, 46Verse 46. and he said to his relatives, “Gather some stones.” So they took stones and made a mound, and there by the mound they ate. 47Verse 47. Laban called it Jegar-sahadutha, and Jacob called it Galeed. 48Verse 48. Then Laban declared, “This mound is a witness between you and me this day.” Therefore the place was called Galeed. 49Verse 49. It was also called Mizpah, because Laban said, “May the LORD keep watch between you and me when we are absent from each other. 50Verse 50. If you mistreat my daughters or take other wives, although no one is with us, remember that God is a witness between you and me.” 51Verse 51. Laban also said to Jacob, “Here is the mound, and here is the pillar I have set up between you and me. 52Verse 52. This mound is a witness, and this pillar is a witness, that I will not go past this mound to harm you, and you will not go past this mound and pillar to harm me. 53Verse 53. May the God of Abraham and the God of Nahor, the God of their father, judge between us.” So Jacob swore by the Fear of his father Isaac. 54Verse 54. Then Jacob offered a sacrifice on the mountain and invited his relatives to eat a meal. And after they had eaten, they spent the night on the mountain. 55Verse 55. Early the next morning, Laban got up and kissed his grandchildren and daughters and blessed them. Then he left to return home. 1Verse 1. Jacob also went on his way, and the angels of God met him. 2Verse 2. When Jacob saw them, he said, “This is the camp of God.” So he named that place Mahanaim.
