Semicontinuous (Track 1)

FIRST READING

Amos 9:5-15

Verse 5. The Lord GOD of Hosts, He who touches the earth and it melts, and all its dwellers mourn — all the land rises like the Nile, then sinks like the river of Egypt — Verse 6. He builds His upper rooms in the heavens and founds His vault upon the earth. He summons the waters of the sea and pours them over the face of the earth. The LORD is His name. Verse 7. “Are you not like the Cushites to Me, O children of Israel?” “Did I not bring Israel up from the land of Egypt, the Philistines from Caphtor, and the Arameans from Kir? Verse 8. Surely the eyes of the Lord GOD are on the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from the face of the earth. Yet I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob,” Verse 9. “For surely I will give the command, and I will shake the house of Israel among all the nations as grain is sifted in a sieve; but not a pebble will reach the ground. Verse 10. All the sinners among My people will die by the sword — all those who say, ‘Disaster will never draw near or confront us.’” Verse 11. “In that day I will restore the fallen tent of David. I will repair its gaps, restore its ruins, and rebuild it as in the days of old, Verse 12. that they may possess the remnant of Edom and all the nations that bear My name,” Verse 13. “Behold, the days are coming,” declares the LORD, “when the plowman will overtake the reaper and the treader of grapes, the sower of seed. The mountains will drip with sweet wine, with which all the hills will flow. Verse 14. I will restore My people Israel from captivity; they will rebuild and inhabit the ruined cities. They will plant vineyards and drink their wine; they will make gardens and eat their fruit. Verse 15. I will firmly plant them in their own land, never again to be uprooted from the land that I have given them,”

Complementary (Track 2)

FIRST READING

Deuteronomy 12:1-12

Verse 1. These are the statutes and ordinances you must be careful to follow all the days you live in the land that the LORD, the God of your fathers, has given you to possess. Verse 2. Destroy completely all the places where the nations you are dispossessing have served their gods— atop the high mountains, on the hills, and under every green tree. Verse 3. Tear down their altars, smash their sacred pillars, burn up their Asherah poles, cut down the idols of their gods, and wipe out their names from every place. Verse 4. You shall not worship the LORD your God in this way. Verse 5. Instead, you must seek the place the LORD your God will choose from among all your tribes to establish as a dwelling for His Name, and there you must go. Verse 6. To that place you are to bring your burnt offerings and sacrifices, your tithes and heave offerings, your vow offerings and freewill offerings, as well as the firstborn of your herds and flocks. Verse 7. There, in the presence of the LORD your God, you and your households shall eat and rejoice in all you do, because the LORD your God has blessed you. Verse 8. You are not to do as we are doing here today, where everyone does what seems right in his own eyes. Verse 9. For you have not yet come to the resting place and the inheritance that the LORD your God is giving you. Verse 10. When you cross the Jordan and live in the land that the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, and He gives you rest from all the enemies around you and you dwell securely, Verse 11. then the LORD your God will choose a dwelling for His Name. And there you are to bring everything I command you: your burnt offerings and sacrifices, your tithes and special gifts, and all the choice offerings you vow to the LORD. Verse 12. And you shall rejoice before the LORD your God— you, your sons and daughters, your menservants and maidservants, and the Levite within your gates, since he has no portion or inheritance among you.

SECOND READING

John 6:41-51

Verse 41. At this, the Jews began to grumble about Jesus because He had said, “I am the bread that came down from heaven.” Verse 42. They were asking, “Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How then can He say, ‘I have come down from heaven’ ?” Verse 43. “Stop grumbling among yourselves,” Jesus replied. Verse 44. “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day. Verse 45. It is written in the Prophets: ‘And they will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who has heard the Father and learned from Him comes to Me — Verse 46. not that anyone has seen the Father except the One who is from God; only He has seen the Father. Verse 47. Truly, truly, I tell you, he who believes has eternal life. Verse 48. I am the bread of life. Verse 49. Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, yet they died. Verse 50. This is the bread that comes down from heaven, so that anyone may eat of it and not die. Verse 51. I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And this bread, which I will give for the life of the world, is My flesh.”
