Complementary (Track 2)

FIRST READING

Isaiah 59:1-8

Verse 1. Surely the arm of the LORD is not too short to save, nor His ear too dull to hear. Verse 2. But your iniquities have built barriers between you and your God, and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He does not hear. Verse 3. For your hands are stained with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, and your tongue mutters injustice. Verse 4. No one calls for justice; no one pleads his case honestly. They rely on empty pleas; they tell lies; they conceive mischief and give birth to iniquity. Verse 5. They hatch the eggs of vipers and weave a spider’s web. Whoever eats their eggs will die; crack one open, and a viper is hatched. Verse 6. Their cobwebs cannot be made into clothing, and they cannot cover themselves with their works. Their deeds are sinful deeds, and acts of violence are in their hands. Verse 7. Their feet run to evil; they are swift to shed innocent blood. Their thoughts are sinful thoughts; ruin and destruction lie in their wake. Verse 8. The way of peace they have not known, and there is no justice in their tracks. They have turned them into crooked paths; no one who treads on them will know peace.

Verse 23. You who fear the LORD, praise Him! All descendants of Jacob, honor Him! All offspring of Israel, revere Him!

SECOND READING

Matthew 9:27-34

Verse 27. As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed Him, crying out, “Have mercy on us, Son of David!” Verse 28. After Jesus had entered the house, the blind men came to Him. “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” He asked. “Yes, Lord,” they answered. Verse 29. Then He touched their eyes and said, “According to your faith will it be done to you.” Verse 30. And their eyes were opened. Jesus warned them sternly, “See that no one finds out about this!” Verse 31. But they went out and spread the news about Him throughout the land. Verse 32. As they were leaving, a demon-possessed man who was mute was brought to Jesus. Verse 33. And when the demon had been driven out, the man began to speak. The crowds were amazed and said, “Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel!” Verse 34. But the Pharisees said, “It is by the prince of demons that He drives out demons.”
