FIRST READING

Proverbs 3:13-18

Verse 13. Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who acquires understanding, Verse 14. for she is more profitable than silver, and her gain is better than fine gold. Verse 15. She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire compares with her. Verse 16. Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. Verse 17. All her ways are pleasant, and all her paths are peaceful. Verse 18. She is a tree of life to those who embrace her, and those who lay hold of her are blessed.

PSALM

Psalm 8

For the choirmaster. According to Gittith. A Psalm of David. O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth! You have set Your glory above the heavens.

From the mouths of children and infants You have ordained praise on account of Your adversaries, to silence the enemy and avenger.

When I behold Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have set in place —

what is man that You are mindful of him, or the son of man that You care for him?

You made him a little lower than the angels; You crowned him with glory and honor.

You made him ruler of the works of Your hands; You have placed everything under his feet:

all sheep and oxen, and even the beasts of the field,

the birds of the air and the fish of the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas.

O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth!

SECOND READING

Ephesians 1:17-19

Verse 17. that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in your knowledge of Him. Verse 18. I ask that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you may know the hope of His calling, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints, Verse 19. and the surpassing greatness of His power to us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of His mighty strength,
