FIRST READING
Ezekiel 2:8-3:11
Verse 8. And you, son of man, listen to what I tell you. Do not be rebellious like that rebellious house. Open your mouth and eat what I give you.” Verse 9. Then I looked and saw a hand reaching out to me, and in it was a scroll, Verse 10. which He unrolled before me. And written on the front and back of it were words of lamentation, mourning, and woe. Verse 1. “Son of man,” He said to me, “eat what you find here. Eat this scroll, then go and speak to the house of Israel.” Verse 2. So I opened my mouth, and He fed me the scroll. Verse 3. “Son of man,” He said to me, “eat and fill your stomach with this scroll I am giving you.” So I ate, and it was as sweet as honey in my mouth. Verse 4. Then He said to me, “Son of man, go now to the house of Israel and speak My words to them. Verse 5. For you are not being sent to a people of unfamiliar speech or difficult language, but to the house of Israel — Verse 6. not to the many peoples of unfamiliar speech and difficult language whose words you cannot understand. Surely if I had sent you to them, they would have listened to you. Verse 7. But the house of Israel will be unwilling to listen to you, since they are unwilling to listen to Me. For the whole house of Israel is hard-headed and hard-hearted. Verse 8. Behold, I will make your face as hard as their faces, and your forehead as hard as their foreheads. Verse 9. I will make your forehead like a diamond, harder than flint. Do not be afraid of them or dismayed at their presence, even though they are a rebellious house.” Verse 10. “Son of man,” He added, “listen carefully to all the words I speak to you, and take them to heart. Verse 11. Go to your people, the exiles; speak to them and tell them, ‘This is what the Lord GOD says,’ whether they listen or refuse to listen.”

SECOND READING
Revelation 10:1-11
Verse 1. Then I saw another mighty angel coming down from heaven, wrapped in a cloud, with a rainbow above his head. His face was like the sun, and his legs were like pillars of fire. Verse 2. He held in his hand a small scroll, which lay open. He placed his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the land. Verse 3. Then he cried out in a loud voice like the roar of a lion. And when he cried out, the seven thunders sounded their voices. Verse 4. When the seven thunders had spoken, I was about to put it in writing. But I heard a voice from heaven saying, “Seal up what the seven thunders have said, and do not write it down.” Verse 5. Then the angel I had seen standing on the sea and on the land lifted up his right hand to heaven. Verse 6. And he swore by Him who lives forever and ever, who created heaven and everything in it, the earth and everything in it, and the sea and everything in it: “There will be no more delay! Verse 7. But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he begins to sound his trumpet, the mystery of God will be fulfilled, just as He proclaimed to His servants the prophets.” Verse 8. Then the voice that I had heard from heaven spoke to me again, saying, “Go, take the small scroll that lies open in the hand of the angel standing on the sea and on the land.” Verse 9. And I went to the angel and said, “Give me the small scroll.” “Take it and eat it,” he said. “It will make your stomach bitter, but in your mouth it will be as sweet as honey.” Verse 10. So I took the small scroll from the angel’s hand and ate it, and it was as sweet as honey in my mouth. But when I had eaten it, my stomach turned bitter. Verse 11. And they told me, “You must prophesy again about many peoples and nations and tongues and kings.”
