FIRST READING
Isaiah 62:1-5
Verse 1. For Zion’s sake I will not keep silent, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not keep still, until her righteousness shines like a bright light, her salvation like a blazing torch. Verse 2. Nations will see your righteousness, and all kings your glory. You will be called by a new name that the mouth of the LORD will bestow. Verse 3. You will be a crown of glory in the hand of the LORD, a royal diadem in the palm of your God. Verse 4. No longer will you be called Forsaken, nor your land named Desolate; but you will be called Hephzibah, and your land Beulah; for the LORD will take delight in you, and your land will be His bride. Verse 5. For as a young man marries a young woman, so your sons will marry you; and as a bridegroom rejoices over his bride, so your God will rejoice over you.
PSALM
Psalm 36:5-10
SECOND READING
1 Corinthians 12:1-11
Verse 1. Now about spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be uninformed. Verse 2. You know that when you were pagans, you were influenced and led astray to mute idols. Verse 3. Therefore I inform you that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus be cursed,” and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit. Verse 4. There are different gifts, but the same Spirit. Verse 5. There are different ministries, but the same Lord. Verse 6. There are different ways of working, but the same God works all things in all people. Verse 7. Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. Verse 8. To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by the same Spirit, Verse 9. to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, Verse 10. to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in various tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. Verse 11. All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, who apportions them to each one as He determines.
GOSPEL
John 2:1-11
Verse 1. On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, Verse 2. and Jesus and His disciples had also been invited to the wedding. Verse 3. When the wine ran out, Jesus’ mother said to Him, “They have no more wine.” Verse 4. “Woman, what is that to you and to Me?” Jesus replied. “My hour has not yet come.” Verse 5. His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever He tells you.” Verse 6. Now six stone water jars had been set there for the Jewish rites of purification. Each could hold from twenty to thirty gallons. Verse 7. Jesus told the servants, “Fill the jars with water.” So they filled them to the brim. Verse 8. “Now draw some out,” He said, “and take it to the master of the banquet.” They did so, Verse 9. and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not know where it was from, but the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside Verse 10. and said, “Everyone serves the fine wine first, and then the cheap wine after the guests are drunk. But you have saved the fine wine until now!” Verse 11. Jesus performed this, the first of His signs, at Cana in Galilee. He thus revealed His glory, and His disciples believed in Him.
