FIRST READING

Jeremiah 31:31-34

Verse 31. Behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah. Verse 32. It will not be like the covenant I made with their fathers when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt— a covenant they broke, though I was a husband to them, ” Verse 33. “But this is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the LORD. I will put My law in their minds and inscribe it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they will be My people. Verse 34. No longer will each man teach his neighbor or his brother, saying, ‘Know the LORD,’ because they will all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest, declares the LORD. For I will forgive their iniquities and will remember their sins no more.”

PSALM

Psalm 80:1-7

Verse 1. For the choirmaster. To the tune of “The Lilies of the Covenant.” A Psalm of Asaph. Hear us, O Shepherd of Israel, who leads Joseph like a flock; You who sit enthroned between the cherubim, shine forth
Verse 2. before Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh. Rally Your mighty power and come to save us.
Verse 3. Restore us, O God, and cause Your face to shine upon us, that we may be saved.
Verse 4. O LORD God of Hosts, how long will Your anger smolder against the prayers of Your people?
Verse 5. You fed them with the bread of tears and made them drink the full measure of their tears.
Verse 6. You make us contend with our neighbors; our enemies mock us.
Verse 7. Restore us, O God of Hosts, and cause Your face to shine upon us, that we may be saved.

SECOND READING

Hebrews 10:10-18

Verse 10. And by that will, we have been sanctified through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. Verse 11. Day after day every priest stands to minister and to offer again and again the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. Verse 12. But when this Priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, He sat down at the right hand of God. Verse 13. Since that time, He waits for His enemies to be made a footstool for His feet, Verse 14. because by a single offering He has made perfect for all time those who are being sanctified. Verse 15. The Holy Spirit also testifies to us about this. First He says: Verse 16. “This is the covenant I will make with them after those days, declares the Lord. I will put My laws in their hearts and inscribe them on their minds.” Verse 17. Then He adds: “Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more.” Verse 18. And where these have been forgiven, an offering for sin is no longer needed.
