Verse 21. When my heart was grieved and I was pierced within,
Verse 22. I was senseless and ignorant; I was a brute beast before You.

Complementary (Track 2)

FIRST READING

Isaiah 10:12-20

Verse 12. So when the Lord has completed all His work against Mount Zion and Jerusalem, He will say, “I will punish the king of Assyria for the fruit of his arrogant heart and the proud look in his eyes. Verse 13. For he says: ‘By the strength of my hand I have done this, and by my wisdom, for I am clever. I have removed the boundaries of nations and plundered their treasures; like a mighty one I subdued their rulers. Verse 14. My hand reached as into a nest to seize the wealth of the nations. Like one gathering abandoned eggs, I gathered all the earth. No wing fluttered, no beak opened or chirped.’” Verse 15. Does an axe raise itself above the one who swings it? Does a saw boast over him who saws with it? It would be like a rod waving the one who lifts it, or a staff lifting him who is not wood! Verse 16. Therefore the Lord GOD of Hosts will send a wasting disease among Assyria’s stout warriors, and under his pomp will be kindled a fire like a burning flame. Verse 17. And the Light of Israel will become a fire, and its Holy One a flame. In a single day it will burn and devour Assyria’s thorns and thistles. Verse 18. The splendor of its forests and orchards, both soul and body, it will completely destroy, as a sickness consumes a man. Verse 19. The remaining trees of its forests will be so few that a child could count them. Verse 20. On that day the remnant of Israel and the survivors of the house of Jacob will no longer depend on him who struck them, but they will truly rely on the LORD, the Holy One of Israel.

Verse 170. May my plea come before You; rescue me according to Your promise.
Verse 171. My lips pour forth praise, for You teach me Your statutes.
Verse 172. My tongue sings of Your word, for all Your commandments are righteous.
Verse 173. May Your hand be ready to help me, for I have chosen Your precepts.
Verse 174. I long for Your salvation, O LORD, and Your law is my delight.
Verse 175. Let me live to praise You; may Your judgments sustain me.
Verse 176. I have strayed like a lost sheep; seek Your servant, for I have not forgotten Your commandments.

SECOND READING

John 7:25-36

Verse 25. Then some of the people of Jerusalem began to say, “Isn’t this the man they are trying to kill? Verse 26. Yet here He is, speaking publicly, and they are not saying anything to Him. Have the rulers truly recognized that this is the Christ? Verse 27. But we know where this man is from. When the Christ comes, no one will know where He is from.” Verse 28. Then Jesus, still teaching in the temple courts, cried out, “You know Me, and you know where I am from. I have not come of My own accord, but He who sent Me is true. You do not know Him, Verse 29. but I know Him, because I am from Him and He sent Me.” Verse 30. So they tried to seize Him, but no one laid a hand on Him, because His hour had not yet come. Verse 31. Many in the crowd, however, believed in Him and said, “When the Christ comes, will He perform more signs than this man?” Verse 32. When the Pharisees heard the crowd whispering these things about Jesus, they and the chief priests sent officers to arrest Him. Verse 33. So Jesus said, “I am with you only a little while longer, and then I am going to the One who sent Me. Verse 34. You will look for Me, but you will not find Me; and where I am, you cannot come.” Verse 35. At this, the Jews said to one another, “Where does He intend to go that we will not find Him? Will He go where the Jews are dispersed among the Greeks, and teach the Greeks? Verse 36. What does He mean by saying, ‘You will look for Me, but you will not find Me,’ and, ‘Where I am, you cannot come’ ?”
