Semicontinuous (Track 1)

FIRST READING

Exodus 32:19-26a

Verse 19. As Moses approached the camp and saw the calf and the dancing, he burned with anger and threw the tablets out of his hands, shattering them at the base of the mountain. Verse 20. Then he took the calf they had made, burned it in the fire, ground it to powder, and scattered the powder over the face of the water. Then he forced the Israelites to drink it. Verse 21. “What did this people do to you,” Moses asked Aaron, “that you have led them into so great a sin?” Verse 22. “Do not be enraged, my lord,” Aaron replied. “You yourself know that the people are intent on evil. Verse 23. They told me, ‘Make us gods who will go before us. As for this Moses who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has happened to him!’ Verse 24. So I said to them, ‘Whoever has gold, let him take it off,’ and they gave it to me. And when I threw it into the fire, out came this calf!” Verse 25. Moses saw that the people were out of control, for Aaron had let them run wild and become a laughingstock to their enemies. Verse 26. So Moses stood at the entrance to the camp and said, “Whoever is for the LORD, come to me.” And all the Levites gathered around him.

PSALM

Psalm 51:1-12

Verse 1. For the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. When Nathan the prophet came to him after his adultery with Bathsheba. Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your loving devotion; according to Your great compassion, blot out my transgressions.
Verse 2. Wash me clean of my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.
Verse 3. For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me.
Verse 4. Against You, You only, have I sinned and done what is evil in Your sight, so that You may be proved right when You speak and blameless when You judge.
Verse 5. Surely I was brought forth in iniquity; I was sinful when my mother conceived me.
Verse 6. Surely You desire truth in the inmost being; You teach me wisdom in the inmost place.
Verse 7. Purify me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
Verse 8. Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones You have crushed rejoice.
Verse 9. Hide Your face from my sins and blot out all my iniquities.
Verse 10. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.
Verse 11. Cast me not away from Your presence; take not Your Holy Spirit from me.
Verse 12. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and sustain me with a willing spirit.

Complementary (Track 2)

FIRST READING

Exodus 12:33-42

Verse 33. And in order to send them out of the land quickly, the Egyptians urged the people on. “For otherwise,” they said, “we are all going to die!” Verse 34. So the people took their dough before it was leavened, carrying it on their shoulders in kneading bowls wrapped in clothing. Verse 35. Furthermore, the Israelites acted on Moses’ word and asked the Egyptians for articles of silver and gold, and for clothing. Verse 36. And the LORD gave the people such favor in the sight of the Egyptians that they granted their request. In this way they plundered the Egyptians. Verse 37. The Israelites journeyed from Rameses to Succoth with about 600,000 men on foot, besides women and children. Verse 38. And a mixed multitude also went up with them, along with great droves of livestock, both flocks and herds. Verse 39. Since their dough had no leaven, the people baked what they had brought out of Egypt into unleavened loaves. For when they had been driven out of Egypt, they could not delay and had not prepared any provisions for themselves. Verse 40. Now the duration of the Israelites’ stay in Egypt was 430 years. Verse 41. At the end of the 430 years, to the very day, all the LORD’s divisions went out of the land of Egypt. Verse 42. Because the LORD kept a vigil that night to bring them out of the land of Egypt, this same night is to be a vigil to the LORD, to be observed by all the Israelites for the generations to come.

PSALM

Psalm 78:23-29

Verse 23. Yet He commanded the clouds above and opened the doors of the heavens.
Verse 24. He rained down manna for them to eat; He gave them grain from heaven.
Verse 25. Man ate the bread of angels; He sent them food in abundance.
Verse 26. He stirred the east wind from the heavens and drove the south wind by His might.
Verse 27. He rained meat on them like dust, and winged birds like the sand of the sea.
Verse 28. He felled them in the midst of their camp, all around their dwellings.
Verse 29. So they ate and were well filled, for He gave them what they craved.

SECOND READING

1 Corinthians 11:17-22

Verse 17. In the following instructions I have no praise to offer, because your gatherings do more harm than good. Verse 18. First of all, I hear that when you come together as a church, there are divisions among you, and in part I believe it. Verse 19. And indeed, there must be differences among you to show which of you are approved. Verse 20. Now then, when you come together, it is not the Lord’s Supper you eat. Verse 21. For as you eat, each of you goes ahead without sharing his meal. While one remains hungry, another gets drunk. Verse 22. Don’t you have your own homes in which to eat and drink? Or do you despise the church of God and humiliate those who have nothing? What can I say to you? Shall I praise you for this? No, I will not!
