FIRST READING
Exodus 15:6-11
Verse 6. Your right hand, O LORD, is majestic in power; Your right hand, O LORD, has shattered the enemy. Verse 7. You overthrew Your adversaries by Your great majesty. You unleashed Your burning wrath; it consumed them like stubble. Verse 8. At the blast of Your nostrils the waters piled up; like a wall the currents stood firm; the depths congealed in the heart of the sea. Verse 9. The enemy declared, ‘I will pursue, I will overtake. I will divide the spoils; I will gorge myself on them. I will draw my sword; my hand will destroy them.’ Verse 10. But You blew with Your breath, and the sea covered them. They sank like lead in the mighty waters. Verse 11. Who among the gods is like You, O LORD? Who is like You — majestic in holiness, revered with praises, performing wonders?
PSALM
Psalm 33:12-22
SECOND READING
John 7:37-39
Verse 37. On the last and greatest day of the feast, Jesus stood up and called out in a loud voice, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. Verse 38. Whoever believes in Me, as the Scripture has said: ‘Streams of living water will flow from within him.’” Verse 39. He was speaking about the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were later to receive. For the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet been glorified.
