FIRST READING

Exodus 24:15-18

Verse 15. When Moses went up on the mountain, the cloud covered it, Verse 16. and the glory of the LORD settled on Mount Sinai. For six days the cloud covered it, and on the seventh day the LORD called to Moses from within the cloud. Verse 17. And the sight of the glory of the LORD was like a consuming fire on the mountaintop in the eyes of the Israelites. Verse 18. Moses entered the cloud as he went up on the mountain, and he remained on the mountain forty days and forty nights.

PSALM

Psalm 47

Verse 1. For the choirmaster. A Psalm of the sons of Korah. Clap your hands, all you peoples; shout unto God with a voice of triumph.
Verse 2. How awesome is the LORD Most High, the great King over all the earth!
Verse 3. He subdues nations beneath us, and peoples under our feet.
Verse 4. He chooses our inheritance for us, the pride of Jacob, whom He loves.
Verse 5. God has ascended amid shouts of joy, the LORD with the sound of the horn.
Verse 6. Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King, sing praises!
Verse 7. For God is King of all the earth; sing to Him a psalm of praise.
Verse 8. God reigns over the nations; God is seated on His holy throne.
Verse 9. The nobles of the nations have assembled as the people of the God of Abraham; for the shields of the earth belong to God; He is highly exalted.

SECOND READING

Revelation 1:9-18

Verse 9. I, John, your brother and partner in the tribulation and kingdom and perseverance that are in Jesus, was on the island of Patmos because of the word of God and my testimony about Jesus. Verse 10. On the Lord’s day I was in the Spirit, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet, Verse 11. saying, “Write on a scroll what you see and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea.” Verse 12. Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking with me. And having turned, I saw seven golden lampstands, Verse 13. and among the lampstands was One like the Son of Man, dressed in a long robe, with a golden sash around His chest. Verse 14. The hair of His head was white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes were like a blazing fire. Verse 15. His feet were like polished bronze refined in a furnace, and His voice was like the roar of many waters. Verse 16. He held in His right hand seven stars, and a sharp double-edged sword came from His mouth. His face was like the sun shining at its brightest. Verse 17. When I saw Him, I fell at His feet like a dead man. But He placed His right hand on me and said, “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last, Verse 18. the Living One. I was dead, and behold, now I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys of Death and of Hades.
