FIRST READING

Proverbs 9:1-6

Verse 1. Wisdom has built her house; she has carved out her seven pillars. Verse 2. She has prepared her meat and mixed her wine; she has also set her table. Verse 3. She has sent out her maidservants; she calls out from the heights of the city. Verse 4. “Whoever is simple, let him turn in here!” she says to him who lacks judgment. Verse 5. “Come, eat my bread and drink the wine I have mixed. Verse 6. Leave your folly behind, and you will live; walk in the way of understanding.”

PSALM

Psalm 150

Verse 1. Hallelujah! Praise God in His sanctuary. Praise Him in His mighty heavens.
Verse 2. Praise Him for His mighty acts; praise Him for His excellent greatness.
Verse 3. Praise Him with the sound of the horn; praise Him with the harp and lyre.
Verse 4. Praise Him with tambourine and dancing; praise Him with strings and flute.
Verse 5. Praise Him with clashing cymbals; praise Him with resounding cymbals.
Verse 6. Let everything that has breath praise the LORD! Hallelujah!

SECOND READING

Mark 16:9-18

Verse 9. Early on the first day of the week, after Jesus had risen, He appeared first to Mary Magdalene, from whom He had driven out seven demons. Verse 10. She went and told those who had been with Him, who were mourning and weeping. Verse 11. And when they heard that Jesus was alive and she had seen Him, they did not believe it. Verse 12. After this, Jesus appeared in a different form to two of them as they walked along in the country. Verse 13. And they went back and reported it to the rest, but they did not believe them either. Verse 14. Later, as they were eating, Jesus appeared to the Eleven and rebuked them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen Him after He had risen. Verse 15. And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. Verse 16. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. Verse 17. And these signs will accompany those who believe: In My name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; Verse 18. they will pick up snakes with their hands, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not harm them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will be made well.”
