FIRST READING
Isaiah 14:1-2
Verse 1. For the LORD will have compassion on Jacob; once again He will choose Israel and settle them in their own land. The foreigner will join them and unite with the house of Jacob. Verse 2. The nations will escort Israel and bring it to its homeland. Then the house of Israel will possess the nations as menservants and maidservants in the LORD’s land. They will make captives of their captors and rule over their oppressors.

Proverbs 10:1-5
Verse 1. The proverbs of Solomon: A wise son brings joy to his father, but a foolish son grief to his mother. Verse 2. Ill-gotten treasures profit nothing, but righteousness brings deliverance from death. Verse 3. The LORD does not let the righteous go hungry, but He denies the craving of the wicked. Verse 4. Idle hands make one poor, but diligent hands bring wealth. Verse 5. He who gathers in summer is a wise son, but he who sleeps during harvest is a disgraceful son.

Philippians 4:10-15
Verse 10. Now I rejoice greatly in the Lord that at last you have revived your concern for me. You were indeed concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it. Verse 11. I am not saying this out of need, for I have learned to be content regardless of my circumstances. Verse 12. I know how to live humbly, and I know how to abound. In any and every situation I have learned the secret of being filled and being hungry, of having plenty and having need. Verse 13. I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. Verse 14. Nevertheless, you have done well to share in my affliction. Verse 15. And as you Philippians know, in the early days of the gospel, when I left Macedonia, no church but you partnered with me in the matter of giving and receiving.
