FIRST READING

Job 39:26-40:5

Verse 26. Does the hawk take flight by your understanding and spread his wings toward the south? Verse 27. Does the eagle soar at your command and make his nest on high? Verse 28. He dwells on a cliff and lodges there; his stronghold is on a rocky crag. Verse 29. From there he spies out food; his eyes see it from afar. Verse 30. His young ones feast on blood; and where the slain are, there he is.” Verse 1. And the LORD said to Job: Verse 2. “Will the faultfinder contend with the Almighty? Let him who argues with God give an answer.” Verse 3. Then Job answered the LORD: Verse 4. “Behold, I am insignificant. How can I reply to You? I place my hand over my mouth. Verse 5. I have spoken once, but I have no answer — twice, but I have nothing to add.”

PSALM

Psalm 29

Verse 1. A Psalm of David. Ascribe to the LORD, O heavenly beings, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.
Verse 2. Ascribe to the LORD the glory due His name; worship the LORD in the splendor of His holiness.
Verse 3. The voice of the LORD is over the waters; the God of glory thunders; the LORD is heard over many waters.
Verse 4. The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is majestic.
Verse 5. The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars; the LORD shatters the cedars of Lebanon.
Verse 6. He makes Lebanon skip like a calf, and Sirion like a young wild ox.
Verse 7. The voice of the LORD strikes with flames of fire.
Verse 8. The voice of the LORD shakes the wilderness; the LORD shakes the Wilderness of Kadesh.
Verse 9. The voice of the LORD twists the oaks and strips the forests bare. And in His temple all cry, “Glory!”
Verse 10. The LORD sits enthroned over the flood; the LORD is enthroned as King forever.
Verse 11. The LORD gives His people strength; the LORD blesses His people with peace.

SECOND READING

John 14:25-26

Verse 25. All this I have spoken to you while I am still with you. Verse 26. But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have told you.
