FIRST READING
Job 39:13-25
Verse 13. The wings of the ostrich flap joyfully, but cannot match the pinions and feathers of the stork. Verse 14. For she leaves her eggs on the ground and lets them warm in the sand. Verse 15. She forgets that a foot may crush them, or a wild animal may trample them. Verse 16. She treats her young harshly, as if not her own, with no concern that her labor was in vain. Verse 17. For God has deprived her of wisdom; He has not endowed her with understanding. Verse 18. Yet when she proudly spreads her wings, she laughs at the horse and its rider. Verse 19. Do you give strength to the horse or adorn his neck with a mane? Verse 20. Do you make him leap like a locust, striking terror with his proud snorting? Verse 21. He paws in the valley and rejoices in his strength; he charges into battle. Verse 22. He laughs at fear, frightened of nothing; he does not turn back from the sword. Verse 23. A quiver rattles at his side, along with a flashing spear and lance. Verse 24. Trembling with excitement, he devours the distance; he cannot stand still when the ram’s horn sounds. Verse 25. At the blast of the horn, he snorts with fervor. He catches the scent of battle from afar, the shouts of captains and the cry of war.

SECOND READING
1 Corinthians 12:4-13
Verse 4. There are different gifts, but the same Spirit. Verse 5. There are different ministries, but the same Lord. Verse 6. There are different ways of working, but the same God works all things in all people. Verse 7. Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. Verse 8. To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by the same Spirit, Verse 9. to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, Verse 10. to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in various tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. Verse 11. All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, who apportions them to each one as He determines. Verse 12. The body is a unit, though it is composed of many parts. And although its parts are many, they all form one body. So it is with Christ. Verse 13. For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free, and we were all given one Spirit to drink.
