FIRST READING
Exodus 24:1-11
Verse 1. Then the LORD said to Moses, “Come up to the LORD — you and Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and seventy of Israel’s elders — and you are to worship at a distance. Verse 2. Moses alone shall approach the LORD, but the others must not come near. And the people may not go up with him.” Verse 3. When Moses came and told the people all the words and ordinances of the LORD, they all responded with one voice: “All the words that the LORD has spoken, we will do.” Verse 4. And Moses wrote down all the words of the LORD. Early the next morning he got up and built an altar at the base of the mountain, along with twelve pillars for the twelve tribes of Israel. Verse 5. Then he sent out some young men of Israel, and they offered burnt offerings and sacrificed young bulls as peace offerings to the LORD. Verse 6. Moses took half of the blood and put it in bowls, and the other half he splattered on the altar. Verse 7. Then he took the Book of the Covenant and read it to the people, who replied, “All that the LORD has spoken we will do, and we will be obedient.” Verse 8. So Moses took the blood, splattered it on the people, and said, “This is the blood of the covenant that the LORD has made with you in accordance with all these words.” Verse 9. Then Moses went up with Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel, Verse 10. and they saw the God of Israel. Under His feet was a work like a pavement made of sapphire, as clear as the sky itself. Verse 11. But God did not lay His hand on the nobles of Israel; they saw Him, and they ate and drank.

SECOND READING
John 21:1-14
Verse 1. Later, by the Sea of Tiberias, Jesus again revealed Himself to the disciples. He made Himself known in this way: Verse 2. Simon Peter, Thomas called Didymus, Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples were together. Verse 3. Simon Peter told them, “I am going fishing.” “We will go with you,” they said. So they went out and got into the boat, but caught nothing that night. Verse 4. Early in the morning, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples did not recognize that it was Jesus. Verse 5. So He called out to them, “Children, do you have any fish?” “No,” they answered. Verse 6. He told them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast it there, and they were unable to haul it in because of the great number of fish. Verse 7. Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” As soon as Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment (for he had removed it . . . ) and jumped into the sea. Verse 8. The other disciples came ashore in the boat. They dragged in the net full of fish, for they were not far from land, only about a hundred yards. Verse 9. When they landed, they saw a charcoal fire there with fish on it, and some bread. Verse 10. Jesus told them, “Bring some of the fish you have just caught.” Verse 11. So Simon Peter went aboard and dragged the net ashore. It was full of large fish, 153, but even with so many, the net was not torn. Verse 12. “Come, have breakfast,” Jesus said to them. None of the disciples dared to ask Him, “Who are You?” They knew it was the Lord. Verse 13. Jesus came and took the bread and gave it to them, and He did the same with the fish. Verse 14. This was now the third time that Jesus appeared to the disciples after He was raised from the dead.
