FIRST READING

Isaiah 26:1-4

Verse 1. In that day this song will be sung in the land of Judah: We have a strong city; salvation is established as its walls and ramparts. Verse 2. Open the gates so a righteous nation may enter— one that remains faithful. Verse 3. You will keep in perfect peace the steadfast of mind, because he trusts in You. Verse 4. Trust in the LORD forever, because GOD the LORD is the Rock eternal.

PSALM

Psalm 116:1-4, 12-19

Verse 1. I love the LORD, for He has heard my voice — my appeal for mercy.
Verse 2. Because He has inclined His ear to me, I will call on Him as long as I live.
Verse 3. The ropes of death entangled me; the anguish of Sheol overcame me; I was confronted by trouble and sorrow.
Verse 4. Then I called on the name of the LORD: “O LORD, deliver my soul!”
Verse 12. How can I repay the LORD for all His goodness to me?
Verse 13. I will lift the cup of salvation and call on the name of the LORD.
Verse 14. I will fulfill my vows to the LORD in the presence of all His people.
Verse 15. Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of His saints.
Verse 16. Truly, O LORD, I am Your servant; I am Your servant, the son of Your maidservant; You have broken my bonds.
Verse 17. I will offer to You a sacrifice of thanksgiving and call on the name of the LORD.
Verse 18. I will fulfill my vows to the LORD in the presence of all His people,
Verse 19. in the courts of the LORD’s house, in your midst, O Jerusalem. Hallelujah!

SECOND READING

1 Peter 1:13-16

Verse 13. Therefore prepare your minds for action. Be sober-minded. Set your hope fully on the grace to be given you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. Verse 14. As obedient children, do not conform to the passions of your former ignorance. Verse 15. But just as He who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do, Verse 16. for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”
